Documents & Datenraum

Documents in Law are organized per Akte in folder trees. The firm-wide Dokumente area and Datenraum provide additional filing options.

Documents on an Akte

Inside a case, the documents tab (or Media) shows:

  • Folder tree defined by matter type and firm templates
  • Uploaded files, generated letters, and inbound mail filed to the case
  • Version history and processing status (OCR, extraction)

Upload

Drag and drop files onto the folder, or use Upload.

Assign from Posteingang

When triaging inbox items, file attachments directly into the correct folder.

Open in Workspace

Double-click a Word document to edit in Optimaite Workspace with full fidelity.

Re-sort or re-categorize

If AI filing suggested the wrong folder, move the document and optionally re-run field extraction.

Dokumente (/dokumente)

The global Dokumente view searches and manages documents across Akten (subject to permissions). Use it when you know the filename but not the case.

Datenraum (/vault)

Datenraum is a secure vault for sensitive bundles:

  • Client due diligence packages
  • Transaction data rooms
  • Restricted sharing outside normal case folders

Access is permission-controlled separately from standard Akte documents.

Workspace handoff

When you edit in Workspace:

  1. Law passes document ID and context to Workspace
  2. You edit with track changes, comments, and AI tools
  3. Saving flushes content back to Law's document record

Signing flows similarly — initiated from Law or Postmappe, completed in Workspace.

Use firm templates (Verwaltung → Vorlagen) to generate consistent documents into the correct case folder automatically.
