Your First Document
Create a New Document
There are three ways to start a new document in Optimaite Editor:
From the home page
Click the Document button in the creation row, or type a prompt in the AI input to have AI draft one for you.
From a template
Click Template to browse the template gallery. Pick a template and it opens instantly — ready to customize.
By uploading a Word file
Drag and drop any .docx file onto the home page or the editor. It renders with full Word fidelity, ready to edit.
You can also press ⌘N from anywhere in the app to create a new blank document.
Upload a Word Document
Optimaite Editor is built for legal-grade Word fidelity. Your imported documents preserve:
- Formatting — fonts, sizes, colors, spacing, indentation
- Styles — named paragraph and character styles from the original document
- Tables — borders, shading, merged cells, conditional formatting
- Headers & footers — page numbers, fields, section-specific content
- Track changes — insertions, deletions, and formatting changes
- Comments — threaded comments with author attribution
- Images & shapes — inline and floating, with correct positioning
Simply drag a .docx file onto the editor, or click the upload button on the home page.
Navigate the Editor
Once you have a document open, you'll see:

| Canvas (center) | The document itself — click to edit, scroll to navigate |
| AI Panel (left or floating) | Your AI writing partner — draft, review, compare |

Press ⌘K anywhere for instant AI access — it's the fastest way to get things done.
