Tables
Insert a Table
Use the toolbar's table button to insert a table. Specify rows and columns, or let AI create one:
Press ⌘K and type "insert a 3x4 table with headers for Name, Date, and Amount" — the AI creates it with formatting.
Format Tables
Tables support full Word-level formatting:
- Borders — customize each border individually or use presets
- Shading — background colors per cell, row, or column
- Merged cells — merge and split cells horizontally and vertically
- Banding — alternating row/column colors
- Auto-fit — columns adjust to content or fixed widths
Table Keyboard Shortcuts
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Move to next cell | Tab |
| Move to previous cell | ⇧Tab |
| Add row below | Press Tab in the last cell |
| Select cell | Click the left edge of a cell |
Headers & Footers
Headers and footers appear on every page. They support:
- Page numbers — automatic, with formatting options
- Date fields — auto-updating
- Custom text — any content you'd put in the document body
- Section-specific — different headers for different document sections
- First page different — separate header/footer for the first page
- Odd/even pages — different headers for left and right pages
Page Setup
Configure page dimensions, margins, and orientation:
- Paper size — A4, Letter, Legal, or custom
- Margins — top, bottom, left, right (all preserved from Word imports)
- Orientation — portrait or landscape
- Sections — different page setups within the same document (section breaks)
Page setup from imported Word documents is preserved exactly — including section breaks with different margins, orientations, and header/footer configurations.
