Legal Research
Legal Research (/recht) gives you direct access to German case law, statutes, and citation networks from within the Workspace. This feature is only visible when your tenant has an active Optimaite Law entitlement.
Access
Open Recht from the sidebar (under the Legal section). The research interface provides:
- Case law search — search German court decisions by keyword, court, date, or citation
- Statute search — browse and search federal and state statutes
- Citation network — explore how cases cite each other and trace legal arguments
Search
Enter a keyword, citation, or legal term. Results are grouped by type:
- Entscheidungen (court decisions) — with court, date, and key holdings
- Normen (statutes) — with paragraph text and cross-references
- Kommentare (commentary) — expert analysis linked to specific provisions
Citation Network
Click on any case to explore its citation graph:
- Cited by — newer cases that reference this decision
- Cites — older decisions this case builds on
- Related statutes — the legal provisions at issue
Use the AI assistant to summarize search results — select a case and press ⌘K to ask "Summarize this decision in three bullet points."
Integration with Documents
Research results can be inserted into your documents:
- Cite — insert a formatted citation directly into your document
- Quote — insert a block quote with automatic attribution
- Attach — add research results as references for the AI assistant
