Inline AI (⌘K)
How It Works
Press ⌘K anywhere in your document. A compact input appears at your cursor position. Type a command and the AI applies it instantly.
With Selected Text
Select text first, then press ⌘K. The AI operates on your selection:
- "Make this more formal"
- "Simplify this paragraph"
- "Translate to German"
- "Convert to a bullet list"
- "Expand with more detail"
- "Shorten to one sentence"
Without Selection
Without a selection, ⌘K works on the full document or generates new content at your cursor:
- "Add a heading here"
- "Insert a table of contents"
- "Draft a conclusion paragraph"
Ghost Text
The AI can also provide inline suggestions as you type — gray "ghost text" that appears ahead of your cursor. Press Tab to accept, or keep typing to ignore.
Ghost text works best when you've written a few sentences first. The AI uses your recent context to predict what comes next.
Actions via ⌘K
Beyond AI prompts, ⌘K also works as a command palette:
- Type
/for slash commands - Type
>for actions (new document, export, toggle dark mode) - Type
?to search help articles - No prefix = AI prompt (default)
Results blend across categories. Typing "table" shows: "Insert Table" (action), formatting help (article), and recent documents with "table" in the title.
